Power at a distance.

As part of SX5’s end-to-end mine closure operations, we’re proud to be the first in the world to offer remote dozing.

During mine rehab, bulldozers are used to reshape the mined land to a more natural state. This involves leveling uneven terrain, filling in pits, and creating slopes to ensure proper drainage and stability. However, traditional methods are dangerous and high-risk…

a global problem

Dozers can only handle slopes of up to 20 degrees, and many closures require manoeuvring on much steeper inclines. Additionally, operators are exposed to a host of risks, including extreme weather conditions, health-impacting dust, noise, and vibrations, vehicle entrapment, a lack of visibility from the cab, and more.

the sx5 solution

Remote dozing allows SX5 to safely address challenges by removing operators from machines in high-risk environments to control dozers remotely instead. This technology enables us to manage potentially dangerous closure procedures without placing operators in harm’s way — all while boosting closure efficiency.

How remote dozing works.

Fitted with advanced cameras, GPS trackers, radars, and sensors, our dozers are safely operated from comfortable, sophisticated control rooms. If in-person visibility is required, remote control operations can be performed onsite with a handheld controller. This provides even greater flexibility and efficiency for your project.

The benefits speak for themselves.

No exposure to hazards

Operators are kept away from unstable terrain, hazardous materials, extreme dust, noise, or vibrations, and adverse weather conditions like extreme heat or harsh winds.

Highly efficient

Shifts can be managed more effectively without the physical and mental strain of being onsite or risking operator fatigue (that means projects progress faster!).

Improved visibility & control

With advanced cameras and sensors, operators have better visibility and situational awareness in a control room than they might have from the cab of a bulldozer.

Fast emergency response

In the event of an emergency, remote operation allows for quick evacuation and continued operation without risking human life.

No risk of injury

Our operators are tucked away in a control room which means there’s zero risk of operator entrapment if a dozer rolls over.

Fleet access

We’re proud to have a small fleet of three remote dozers, each with its own dedicated control room.
